Chesapeake Therapeutic Riding, Inc. is dedicated to providing a fun and unique healing experience for individuals with special needs. Through the kindness of our benefactors, volunteers and horses, CTR’s riders and families find hope, growth and compassion.
We are committed to providing the best encounter possible in a healing and loving environment. Our activities are carefully designed to challenge, draw out and encourage our riders, their families, and even our volunteers. Our goal is to use our resources to cultivate self-esteem and a sense of accomplishment in our riders while improving their quality of life.
Our equine teammates are schooled in the nuances of their jobs as therapeutic mounts. Our horses love their work and can provide us with insights beyond our expectations.
Although many afflictions cannot be “cured”, nearly anyone may be healed. We pledge to do our very best for our riders, their families, our volunteers and our horses.
Who can benefit from therapeutic riding?
Children and adults with a wide range of special needs, such as cerebral palsy, developmental delays, sensory integration disorder, Down Syndrome, traumatic brain injuries, paraplegia, learning disabilities, multiple sclerosis, stroke, mental health issues and behavior challenges can all benefit from therapeutic riding.
